About Our Firm

The Law Offices of James A. List, LLC is a Mid-Atlantic law firm serving business owners, families with developmentally disabled members, and individuals with real estate, estate planning, asset protection, and trust needs. The cornerstone of this law firm is its personal, responsive customer service.

In addition, in estate and business planning, we counsel clients using traditional wills and revocable and irrevocable trusts, asset protection trusts, special needs trusts, and powers of attorney and medical directives. Furthermore, our core competencies include gifting strategies and using family LLCs/LLPs, buy-sell, asset and stock purchase agreements, 1031 exchanges, DST’s and family charitable foundations. We represent families in contested estate and trust litigation matters.

We continue to provide the traditional practice of business formation, contracts, corporate governance, and litigation support. Still, our corporate practice is evolving into a succession planning and business advising company. As our business clients mature and transition to the next generation of family and employees, we emphasize the need for tax and transfer structure advice.

Finally, we fully support public service and participation and encourage all our employees, consultants, and clients to actively participate in charities, schools, and religious and civic organizations.
